Today we bring you a light-hearted, foodie story that made us chuckle a little. One of the biggest names on the planet, with a star-studded career spanning more than 30 years, and an Oscar-nominee, John Travolta, has been denied a table at a fast food chain.
Travolta, one of the world’s biggest Hollywood stars of all time has been denied a simple table booking at a KFC restaurant in West Sussex.
John Travolta was in the East Grinstead area attending an annual Scientology event last weekend. It has been reported that one of his representatives telephoned the local KFC branch last Friday in order to try to book a table for the Oscar-nominee. However, the member of staff at KFC who took the call decided to turn down the request, stating that Mr Travolta would have to queue up at the front of the restaurant with everyone else.
Having snubbed the A-list stars request, the KFC employee was informed that the Pulp Fiction star was actually in the county, and was genuinely interested in making a booking at KFC.
A spokesman for KFC has been quoted saying: “In hindsight, of course, we would have reserved a table for him. It’s not every day you get a Hollywood star eating in your restaurant.” One wonders if it is possible to receive a cheaper restaurant insurance policy when you have A-list guests dining at your restaurant. The answer to that wonderment is, unfortunately, no.
The person who took the call did not want to be named, however they have commented on the events: “To me, customers are customers, no matter who they are. It doesn’t make a difference if someone is famous. The lady who called didn’t give me her name. She just said it will be for a Mr Travolta. That threw me a little bit. I thought it might be a load of nonsense, but she seemed pretty serious.”
It seems that even the biggest movie stars in the world can struggle to get a seat at fast food chains these days.
